ACL injury-Reducing the risk
This video shows some of the common exercises for jumping/ landing/run mechanics and plyometrics used to help reduce ACL injury risk. This is particularly important for girls, as we know their ACL injury risk is up to 6 times higher than boys due to a variety of factors.
Research has focused on differences in skill level, femoral notch size, ACL dimensions, degree of knee laxity, their Q angle, and hormonal differences. The results of these studies have been mixed. Landing techniques and neuromuscular recruitment patterns have more recently been identified as one of the main risk factors for females.
